Two GP clinics at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri, in the Hunter region, became fully bulk-billed in September 2025 in a move one local GP said would mean patients would no longer have to choose between their health and groceries.
The transition of All Ways Healthcare clinics at Cessnock and Kurri Kurri resulted from the federal government's "historic $8.5 billion investment in Medicare", representing the largest single investment in the scheme since its inception 40 years ago, Hunter MP and Albanese government men's health envoy Dan Repacholi said.
"People should only need their Medicare card, not their credit card, to see a doctor," he said. "More clinics are opening their doors to bulk-billing every single patient, making healthcare more affordable when people need it most."
