SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A ceremony Friday evening honored prisoners of war and military members who are still missing in action.

The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 671 held a Recognition Day ceremony Friday. The third Friday in September is National POW-MIA Recognition Day. Organizers say this is also a time to remember families waiting for service members to come home.

The ceremony took place at Emmet Park on Bay Street at the Vietnam Veterans Monument.

Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Derick Taylor from Hunter Army Airfield was the guest speaker.
