On Sept. 28, two sites in Cabell County, West Virginia, recently added to the National Park Service National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, will celebrate the dedication of their markers as part of their place in the Appalachian Freedom Heritage Tour.

The tour is supported by an Appalachian Regional Commission POWER Grant awarded to the Lawrence Economic Development Corp. of Lawrence County, Ohio. When completed, the Appalachian Freedom Heritage Tour will consist of 27 verified Network to Freedom sites across the Tri-State region of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. The initiative aims to preserve historically significant locations and promote economic development through cultural tourism in the Appalachian region.
