Even the simplest of mistakes can set travellers back while journeying through the outback, and one married couple learned this the hard way after a recent caravan mistake left them on their backs, covered in red dirt for almost three hours.
Sydney couple Tim and Karen* were travelling up to Cape York, Queensland, in a convoy of tourists when they pulled over to refuel just 200 kilometres away from their destination at Bramwell Roadhouse last week. However, Karen told Yahoo News that a "momentary lapse of judgment" resulted in their long-range diesel fuel tank being filled with unleaded petrol.
"The initial feeling was...horrified," Karen told Yahoo. "It was just a momentary lapse in judgment."
