LA PUENTE — The Battle of the Tracks was decided in dominant fashion as Rowland blew past Nogales, 42-6, on Friday night at Jack Jolly Stadium.
Running back/defensive back CJ Carrillo led his team to victory by rushing for 116 yards and three touchdowns, then added a defensive touchdown on a fumble recovery in the fourth quarter.
“I couldn’t do it without my O-line, of course. They’re in the trenches every day,” Carrillo said. “Those holes are always open. Like the Red Sea.”
Quarterback Damien Arrieta provided additional fuel for the ground game with 69 yards and a rushing touchdown. Aidan Opatkiewicz was the only other player to score for Rowland on a 22-yard run in the final six minutes of the fourth quarter.
