Joliestar showed why Chris Waller again chose her to be his Everest entry as Private Harry’s hopes in the $20 million took a hit in the $1 million The Shorts (1100m) at Randwick on Saturday.

On the third line of betting for the Shorts behind fellow resuming Everest contenders Private Harry and Briasa, Joliestar was widest on the turn but thrived off a cracking tempo set by Mazu to cruise to victory.
