Emirates' Skywards loyalty program has grown to more than 30 million members worldwide , and it isn't just for adults. Parents can enroll their children in Skywards Skysurfers , a sub-program for fliers between two and 17 years old. Skysurfers earn miles every time they travel on Emirates or Flydubai and can redeem them for flights or partner perks.
However, in August, the airline made a quiet change to its Skywards terms and conditions affecting Skysurfers and their families. The update states that " passengers aged 8 years old and below are ineligible for First Class Emirates Classic Rewards and Upgrade Rewards ." In other words, children eight and under can no longer use miles to book or upgrade to first class .
