The Federal Government has unveiled a $40 million investment for kerbside electric vehicle charge points.

Following its net-zero plans unveiled this week, the government on Saturday said urban and regional locations with an immediate need for charging would benefit from the investment.

It expects governments, market bodies, distribution networks and charging providers will determinedspecific locations.

Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen said funding would make it easier to charge in the suburbs and regions.

The top areas for electric vehicle adoption are in Australia’s outer suburban centres like Werribee in south-west Melbourne, Baulkham Hills in north-west Sydney and Springfield south-west of Brisbane.
