Talk about a big party crashed.
There was a long pregame toast to the Memorial Cup win last June. Then the London Knights spent nearly the entire first period killing penalties, watched a two-goal third-period lead evaporate, and dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Owen Sound in their season opener before 9,061 Friday at Canada Life Place.
“It’s pretty frustrating,” said Knights forward Jaxon Cover, who scored his first OHL goal on a pretty second-period rush. “We started off the game basically all in the penalty box. It’s not the result we wanted. We fought hard. We just couldn’t finish it out.”
