KICKAPOO, Ill. (WMBD) -- The annual Woofstock fundraiser once again turned into a community celebration, bringing together dogs, families and dozens of local vendors.

Connie Davis, founder and director of Stray Animal Midway Shelter, says this year’s event had everything from food trucks and live music to raffles and pools for the pups. For the first time, Woofstock was held at a new location, giving organizers more flexibility in case of bad weather.

Davis said the event isn’t just about fun, but about the mission:

“We usually raise between $22,000 and $25,000 at this event. This year, our goal is 30,000. We’re planning to start a capital campaign in the next couple of years for a brand-new building, because our shelter is very old.”
