The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) is in the process of preparing an action plan to manage polluted river stretches in Karnataka.

The state pollution watchdog has taken this step following a suo-motu case taken up by the National Green Tribunal based on an article in Bangalore Mirror, highlighting pollution in rivers of Karnataka.

“KSPCB has instructed the regional officers to prepare action plans for newly identified polluted river stretches, and it is currently in progress. Once the action plan is approved by the Central Pollution Control Board, the details will be submitted to the Ministry of Jal Shakti,” KSPCB has clarified to NGT in a recently submitted report.
