BJP leader and Thirumala ward councillor K. Anilkumar, aged 55, was found hanging in his office Saturday morning, his suicide note citing severe financial distress in the Valiyasala Farm Tour Cooperative Society of which he was president, TOI reports.
He clarified in the note that he held no personal financial liability, denied giving any benami loans, and said many investors are pressing for repayments. Anilkumar lamented that delayed payments by members, mounting pending dues and immense mental stress had overwhelmed him.
Nedumcaud ward councillor Karamana Ajith alleged police harassment over the matter may have contributed to his decision, calling for a thorough investigation.
