Harris Health’s board of trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to move forward with eminent domain proceedings to acquire part of Hermann Park for the future expansion of Ben Taub Hospital.
The approval is one of the first steps in the county healthcare system’s planned expansion of Ben Taub Hospital — one of the only level 1 trauma facilities in Harris County. The acquisition of the park land from the City of Houston also would come before the Houston City Council and Harris County Commissioners Court.
