The Department of Drinking Water (DDW) has partially started the 5.6 MLD water treatment plant at Assagao. Treated water is now being released to the Anjuna-Caisua and Marna-Siolim areas, while water supply to Assagao is expected to start by December.

Siolim constituency has been facing a water shortage for a long time, prompting the State government to construct a new water treatment plant at Assagao. Work on the 5.6 MLD project was taken up in 2024 at a cost of Rs 8.12 crore.

Officials began testing the treatment plant in June-July and after getting approvals, the DDW partially began operating the plant to supply water to Bandirwada-Chapora, Anjuna, Vagator, Badem, Siolim and Marna areas from the project.
