If you had asked Ethan Eskit on July 29 how his debut with the Victoria Royals was going to go, his performance on Sept. 19 might have seemed almost too good to be true.
The 19-year-old goaltender from Calgary, Alta., posted a 26-save shutout in the Royals’ home opener against the Penticton Vees, helping Victoria to a 5-0 victory.
For his efforts, Eskit was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the league’s opening week.
"I mean, I don't think you can ask for that good of an ending, so I'm pretty thrilled with that," Eskit said after the game."It's our first game of the year, so obviously as the game went on, all the guys got rolling, and I think we looked really solid."
