The Black Diamond cemetery was recently listed as one of the most popular in the U.S.
According to Choice Mutual, a survey of more than 3,000 people ranked the Black Diamond cemetery 30th out of 140 across the nation.
“Hidden behind tall trees and marked by a simple wooden sign, this 1884 hillside cemetery reflects the coal town’s immigrant roots,” a description of the cemetery reads. “Weathered markers honor miners and families from Wales, Italy, and beyond, their stories quietly rooted in moss and stone. Secluded and shaded, it holds a gentle, enduring calm within its historic grounds.”
The Black Diamond cemetery beat out the Evergeen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle (No. 41) and the Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham (No. 119) with 147 votes total.
