Hyundai Motor India is preparing to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in the country with the launch of a new A+ segment electric micro-SUV , expected to be priced from ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom) . This upcoming model will directly compete with the Tata Punch EV , which currently dominates this segment.

Timeline and Development

Initially expected to debut in the second half of 2026 , the launch has now been postponed to 2027 .

The delay is attributed to sluggish global demand for EVs .

Codenamed ‘HE1i EV’ , this model will be Hyundai’s first locally developed EV designed specifically for Indian driving conditions and local supply chain integration .
