Violence broke out in Leh on Wednesday as protesters set fire to the BJP office and a CRPF van in the capital of Ladakh. At least four people were killed in the violence and a curfew was imposed in Leh. People had been on a hunger strike protesting peacefully for weeks, but protesters resorted to violence on Wednesday.

While some termed it a Gen Z protest, the BJP slammed the Congress for the chaos.

Police fired teargas shells and resorted to baton charges after a group of youths pelted stones amid a massive protest and shutdown. Four people were killed and around 70 were injured.

Wednesday's shutdown was called after 15 people, who were on a hunger strike, had to be shifted to hospital as their health deteriorated.
