HARRISBURG, Pa. - Pennsylvania Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne is warning Pennsylvanians of a new phishing scam in which fraudsters pose as a representative for the Department of Revenue to trick them into sharing personal financial information.

These fake text messages will include links to a fake website and request details under the pretense of processing a refund.

Browne is reminding Pennsylvanians that the Department of Revenue will never send unsolicited text messages asking for sensitive financial information, and says if you receive a message like this, do not respond or click any links. Just delete the message.

Pennsylvanians who receive these scam texts can report them to the Department of Revenue at 717-425-2495 ext. 72267.
