LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Whether it’s Taco Tuesday, Throwback Thursday, or “Wear Pink on Wednesdays,” themed days are always a fun way to celebrate the everyday.
This year, a new weekly trend at the Little Rock School District is winning the hearts and stomachs of their students. Welcome to Wing Wednesday, a school lunch tradition that has quickly become a fan favorite for students and even a few grown-ups across the district.
“This is the best lunch ever, every Wednesday,” said Shmaurion, a 6th grader at Forest Heights STEM Academy.
Stephanie Walker, the district’s child nutritionist, came up with the idea a year and a half ago after noticing a growing food trend and a golden opportunity to meet students where they are.
