Glendale agreed to annexed a half-acre parcel during its Sept. 23 city council meeting and took a step toward annexing another, much larger, parcel to add to its western industrial zone,

Senior Planner Sydney Tirella said the half acre of vacant land on the southeast corner of 81st and Myrtle avenues will be used as open space for a single-family townhouse development just south of it.

Council members unanimously approved the annexation.

A separate plan for Sarival Logistics includes the annexation of 39 acres a bit south of the southwest corner of Peoria and Sarival avenues.

The Sept. 23 meeting only included a presentation and a public hearing on the blank petition for annexation of the site.

Now in Maricopa Couty, the property is zoned the county's equivalennt of rural residential
