E-commerce majors Flipkart and Meesho have kicked off the 2025 festive season with record engagement and sales, underscoring renewed consumer appetite on the back of GST 2.0 reforms and stronger-than-expected demand across categories.

Early trends suggest this could be the sector’s biggest festive cycle yet, with shoppers from metros and smaller towns alike flocking online for deals, speed and discovery.

Walmart-owned Flipkart opened the 12th edition of its flagship Big Billion Days (TBBD) sale on 23 September, with early access for Plus and Black members beginning a day earlier. Within the first 48 hours, the platform recorded a 21% year-on-year rise in user visits compared to TBBD 2024, driven in part by GST-enabled savings and an aggressive line-up of offers.
