BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football will play North Texas on Sept. 5, 2026, as part of next season's non-conference schedule.

The matchup replaces a previously announced game against Colorado State .

Per a source familiar with the situation, Colorado State sought to exit the deal and agreed to pay IU's athletic department $100,000. The amount was negotiated down from the $1.3 million in damages that was outlined in the contract the parties agreed to back in 2021.

Indiana 's non-conference schedule next season also includes games at Memorial Stadium against Howard (Sept. 12) and Western Kentucky (Sept. 19).
