A worker was killed in a collision with a boom truck in the MnDOT construction zone on Interstate 35W in Burnsville on Wednesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol has confirmed it was called around 9 a.m. to the construction on southbound I-35W and Hwy. 13 in Burnsville.

"Preliminary investigation indicates a contractor was on foot when he was struck and killed by a construction vehicle with a boom attachment," the state patrol said.

"There were no other vehicles involved, and this incident took place completely within the construction zone on the highway."
