SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The University of Notre Dame’s board of trustees has convened a special committee to oversee an external investigation into allegations that a former residence hall rector engaged in sexual misconduct.

According to a news release from the university , the alleged sexual misconduct occurred while Rev. Thomas King, C.S.C., served as rector of Zahm Hall from 1980 to 1997.

The university says the external investigation will be led by Helen Cantwell at the law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, and the key findings of the investigation will be shared with the university community.
