EVERETT—Paul Veland, 63 of Everett, was fatally struck by a vehicle that was travelling southbound on I-5 during the early morning of Wednesday, September 24, according to Washington State Patrol.

Veland departed his motorcycle which was left on the shoulder, near mile point 188 on I-5 southbound, into lane three. He was then struck by an oncoming vehicle which came to rest on the right shoulder. Veland was pronounced dead on the scene and next of kin notified by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.

The fatal pedestrian incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m., Wednesday. No alcohol or drugs are suspected to have contributed to the incident according to the WSP report.

The incident is still under investigation.
