HOUSTON - The 610 North Loop is closed off in northeast Houston due to reported police activity involving an armed suspect.

What we know:

According to Harris County Lieutenant Terry Garza , police activity is reported in the eastbound lanes of I-610 North Loop at Gellhorn Drive .

Activity is also being reported in the area under I-10.

All lanes are closed off at this time. When they reopen, drivers are advised to proceed carefully as there may be nails leftover on the roadway.

Officials say the activity involves an "armed robbery suspect." Harris County deputies and Texas DPS troopers are said to be at the scene.
