Gary police broke up a fight Tuesday at the Gary West Side Leadership Academy as students were leaving at the end of the school day, according to a social media post from the Gary Community School Corp.

It marked the second incident this year at the school. On Aug. 5, police arrested a Gary man who brought a gun to the school to confront a student.

On Tuesday, officials said at about 3:40 p.m. as dismissal began and buses were departing, two adults and several non-Gary students entered the parking lot “to engage in a physical altercation with a few students from WSLA.”

Gary police responded and two adults were arrested along with several non-West Side students.

Medics also responded to provide medical attention to students, if needed, the post said.
