SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Local featherweight mixed martial arts (MMA) Gavin Ceniseros has signed his first pro MMA contract despite being doubted.

Ceniseros is no longer an amateur MMA fighter with a 7-6 record but now a professional fighter starting from scratch with a clean 0-0 record. Ceniseros says his amateur career taught him a lot and he hopes to turn those lessons into wins at the professional level.

"I made a lot of mistakes in my amateur career," said Ceniseros. "A lot of things have happened to me, but I learned, and I'm glad that happened to me because it's not going to happen when I go pro."
