A boy riding an electric bike has died in a collision with an SUV, with his pillion passenger also injured in hospital.
The 17-year-old suffered critical injuries in the crash with a Mitsubishi Outlander on the Gold Coast about 4pm on Monday.
It happened at the intersection of Fenton Dr and Tallebudgera Creek Rd in Tallebudgera.
“The rider, a 17-year-old Tallebudgera boy, died at the scene,” Queensland Police said.
A passenger on the e-bike, also a 17-year-old boy from the same suburb, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver, a 65-year-old Robina man who had been heading east on Tallebudgera Creek Rd, was taken to Robina Hospital with minor injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and anyone with information should contact police.
