The Roosevelt High football team has played its final game this season.
Athletics director Ben Corrigan said it was determined Monday there were not enough players in the program to continue the 2025 campaign.
The Rough Riders active roster dwindled to 19 players over the past few weeks due to injuries.
Roosevelt lost to St. Pius X on Saturday 42-0 and will finish the season with a 1-8 mark. Its remaining games against Borgia, Crystal City, Cardinal Ritter, John Burroughs and Miller Career will go into the record books as forfeit losses by 13-0 scores.
"We just felt like we couldn't put the kids that we had left that were wanting to participate in a situation that could ultimately end up getting them hurt," Corrgian said. "It just didn't make a lot of safety sense to continue."
