New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez wants to return to the field — it just isn’t his choice.

Gonzalez, speaking with reporters prior to the start of practice on Wednesday, discussed head coach Mike Vrabel’s decision to keep him sidelined for the club’s Week 3 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I was upset, but sometimes you gotta look at yourself and make sure you’re all the way ready,” Gonzalez said. “You know, hamstrings are a tough, tough injury. It’s a tough spot.”

Gonzalez did make it clear that he wanted to play, which is something he wanted to point out due to a narrative that has started to form surrounding his lengthy absence — which has stretched beyond seven weeks.
