A man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in an East Ayrshire town. ‌

Emergency crews scrambled to the scene in the Newmilns area yesterday, Tuesday, September 23, at around 12:20pm. ‌

The woman Michelle Thomson , 47, was pronounced dead at the scene and her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. ‌

The 26-year-old man will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court tomorrow Thursday, September, 25.

Locals were reportedly told to stay in their homes and businsses in the area were forced to shut.
