Four people were shot, one fatally, during an attack at a Hemet residence, though the exact circumstances were unclear Wednesday.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 400 block of Steiner Drive, near Lincoln Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The agency said 911 dispatchers received multiple calls regarding shots fired and a possible gunshot victim.

Patrol officers converged on the location within a couple minutes and discovered evidence of a shooting, but no one at the property.

“A short time later, two victims with gunshot wounds arrived at Hemet Global Medical Center,” according to a police statement. “Both had sustained critical injuries and were later taken to a nearby trauma center.”
