Once a retail giant, now-shuttered Kmart stores were known for many things: bargains, layaway, Blue Light specials and an in-store cafe where guests could fuel up on concessions like hot dogs, popcorn and frozen soft drinks.

Also sold at Kmart was a submarine sandwich that still lives rent-free in the minds of many.

The subs had bologna, ham, salami, American cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, white onion and mustard. Some say they also had pickles and banana peppers, which is up for debate. What isn't debatable is that they were sold encased in plastic wrap.
