“Dexter: Original Sin” creator Clyde Phillips was blindsided when Paramount+ walked back its decision to renew the prequel series for season 2.
“It was a tough phone call that I got that night. They had already picked up the show, and I’d informed all the writers and informed all the actors, and then they un-picked it up,” Phillips said during a recent appearance on the “Dissecting Dexter” podcast . “It wasn’t handled well, and I’m not happy about it.”
Phillips, who served as showrunner on seasons 1-4 of the original “Dexter” series, also developed Paramount+’s “Dexter” reboot, “Dexter: Resurrection.” According to a Variety report , there are already plans to open a writer’s room for season 2 of “Resurrection,” but Phillips is mourning what could’ve been a larger “Dexter” franchise
