Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office The man charged with capital murder in the 2024 shooting death of Harris County Precinct 4 Cpl. Maher Husseini has been deemed mentally unfit for trial, according to court documents.

Athir Murady, 41, was found “temporarily incompetent” to stand trial based on evaluations by medical professionals, court documents show. On Tuesday, a district court judge ordered that Murady receive mental health treatment while detained at the Harris County Jail.

Murady was charged with murder last year for allegedly shooting and killing Husseini on Sept. 3, 2024. Husseini was shot 13 times while driving to work.
