COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Investigators are revisiting the 1985 killing of Michael Anthony Morgan, a 31-year-old hairstylist whose home also served as his beauty salon, “The Hair Affair,” on Cody Road—now University Avenue.
Morgan had spent the evening out with friends in Uptown before returning home. Police later found his front door partially open and his body near the fireplace. He had been beaten to death.
Sergeant Sherman Hayes with the Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit says evidence suggests Morgan likely knew his attacker.
“In 1985 we didn’t have cellphones or GPS tracking to show someone’s location,” Hayes explained. “That makes these cases even more challenging.”
