AVON LAKE, Ohio -- City Council welcomed a pair of special guests at a recent meeting, as North Olmsted City Council President Louis J. Brossard and his wife addressed the group.
They were there to promote awareness and education surrounding sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) and to observe the SUDEP Awareness Act on Oct. 26.
Council unanimously passed a resolution to support the program.
Brossard has contacted 34 city councils across Northeast Ohio to request passage of the resolution, a program he takes personally, as he and his wife lost their daughter to SUDEP.
Epilepsy is a neurological condition that affects approximately 3.4 million Americans, including an estimated 140,000 Ohioans.
