BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Birmingham man has been arrested in connection to a homicide earlier this year.

Letaris Demonds-Lapri Franklin, 27, died after he was shot April 9 in the 2100 block of 29th Avenue North after being discovered by a concerned family member.

The family member told police that they had not heard from the victim since the day before and forced entry into his apartment when they found Franklin unconscious with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police had been dispatched to the same apartment the day before on a call of shots fired. Officers spoke to community members who said they heard shots coming from inside the complex.

Birmingham Police say 22-year-old Tavares Tre Von Nelson was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 23 in connection to the shooting death of Franklin.
