Celtic have begun their Europa League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Red Star in Belgrade.

Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho opened the scoring in the 57th minute when he collected a Benjamin Nygren pass in the box, turned and hit an unstoppable finish past Matheus in the Red Star goal.

The lead didn’t last, and Red Star levelled just under ten minutes later. The Celtic defence was slow to react after a corner when Tebo Uchenna pounced on a loose ball and put in a low cross that Marko Arnautovic stabbed over the line.

Both sides had further chances to win the game but had to settle for a point each from their first of eight League Phase fixtures.
