CHIMNEY ROCK, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - Hurricane Helene caused billions of dollars worth of damage in North Carolina, leaving homeowners and businesses struggling to cover the costs of rebuilding.
A man who runs a local company saw a need and stepped up. Jake Jarvis, founder of Precision Grading, knew right away the road to recovery would be long.
“In the beginning, people would come to me with tears in their eyes and say ‘how much would you charge to cut us a new driveway, because we can’t get out?’ and you know, I can’t tell them it would be thousands of dollars,” said Jake. “I just couldn’t do that.”
Instead, Jake did rebuilding for free. He estimates he’s done four to five million dollars worth of work.
“My company has not had one day off,” Jake said.
