Tropical Storm Humberto formed several hundred miles east of the Caribbean on Wednesday afternoon, becoming the eighth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.
With sustained winds of 40 mph, Humberto was moving west-northwest at 15 mph as of 4 p.m., forecasters with the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. No watches or warnings had been issued for the storm as of Wednesday afternoon and it is not an immediate threat to Louisiana.
The NHC's latest forecast track shows the storm strengthening to hurricane status by the weekend and staying just south of Bermuda. However, NHC forecaster Larry Kelly said in the afternoon update that there is lower than normal confidence in Humberto's track forecast, in part because of another system developing nearby.
