BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A suspect has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred at a Birmingham apartment complex in April, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

At around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, officers responded to a person shot call at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of 29th Avenue North. After arriving at the scene, officers spoke with a family member of the victim, who said they found the victim inside the apartment suffering from a gunshot wound during a welfare check.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim was identified as Letaris Franklin, 27, of Birmingham.
