A months-long investigation into a copper wire theft north of Natchez has led to multiple suspects being identified and charged in Adams and Hinds counties, authorities said.

Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded on May 12, 2025, to 769 U.S. 61 North after approximately 400 feet of 400-pair copper wire and multiple fiber lines were reported stolen. The loss was estimated at $2,800, not including repair costs to restore service.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from a nearby business and identified three individuals of interest. Follow-up work connected the group to transporting and selling stolen copper at regional recycling facilities.
