Students from Early High School and Brownwood High School enjoyed a tour of the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom led by HPU Sumners Scholars on Tuesday

The Howard Payne University Sumners Scholars hosted two classes from Early High School and one class from Brownwood High School in the Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom building on Tuesday, September 23. The campus visit was held in conjunction with Constitution Day, which was on September 17. The 40 students were from classes taught by HPU alumni Brittany Dunlap ’09, Sidney Sisemore ’21, and Simone Morris ’23.

The Academy tour highlighted critical milestones in the development of freedom principles (from Greek democracy to the U.S. Constitution) alongside examples of civic leaders, such as General Douglas MacArthur and former HPU
