SAYRE, Pa. (WETM) - Around 250 families in need received provisions and food on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at a free drive through pop-up food pantry hosted at the Sayre Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
The outreach was run by CHOP Out Hunger, also known as Child Hunger Outreach Programs- a nonprofit organization based out of Towanda. The event began at 11 a.m., and continued until food ran out. Members of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, as well as CHOP Out Hunger volunteers worked hard throughout the day to stock and distribute provisions, according to organizers. Each box of containing fruits, veggies, protein, snacks, and cereals was loaded into attendees' trunks. "There's a great need for food out there, and the people are just so thankful.
