A police officer and a long-time public works employee for Upper Southampton have been charged with using their power to devalue two decommissioned township vehicles and then selling them for a much higher profit, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

In the more than 40 pages filed by prosecutors, Officer Derek Gail and Assistant Public Works Director Brandon Valentino are accused of listing decommissioned cars owned by the town as having major mechanical issues on an auction website.

The two then bought the cars themselves and then flipped them for a much a higher profit, prosecutors allege.
