EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- Veterans in the Evansville community were given a helping hand today at the CK Newsom Center.

Homeless and at-risk veterans were able to receive assistance with health care, housing opportunities and employment services at the annual Homeless Veteran Stand Down Event.

“We just want to make sure that we can be helpful to the guys that laid their lives on the line for our country," says Volunteers of America Organizer Celcy King.

More than 50 vendors like the red cross, salvation army, and veteran services were at the ck newsome center to provide help to homeless and at risk veterans. Veterans at the center were able to receive assistance with housing, job opportunities and health care.
