BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. — Counseling for students is modernizing.
Soon, instead of in-person counseling, they’ll use an app for support on their devices.
The app was developed by Slingshot, a Louisville-based software company, in partnership with Bullitt County Public School students and district counselors.
It’s a pilot project, and the district is getting to use it for free.
Unlike open-source artificial intelligence programs, this one only pulls from BCPS-approved documents, the same resources school counselors already use.
That way, the advice stays consistent with what students would hear in person.
“They’ll have the option to listen to the resource in a podcast,” said Ashley Marker, a BCPS digital learning coach. “They also took the resources and put them in more like teenage frien
